Photography & Embroidery Alchemist

Some works begin with a photograph.
Others begin with the paper itself.
In both cases, the act of stitching is central — a slow, tactile process that transforms photographic material into an object that can be felt as much as it is seen.

Thobile Nhlapo

A South African artist whose practice transforms photographic images through physical and material processes.

What I Do

A Blend of...

01.

Photography

Professional studio and on-location photography for campaigns, events, portraits, and artistic projects. Images are created with a strong visual narrative and can stand alone or serve as the foundation for further material work.

02.

Stitching

Hand-stitched interventions applied to photographic prints and paper surfaces. Stitching is used to alter, enhance, or conceptually extend images for exhibitions, commissions, and bespoke artworks

03.

Beadwork

Intricate beadwork incorporated into photographic and mixed-media pieces. This process adds texture, symbolism, and cultural resonance, transforming images into tactile, one-of-a-kind artworks.
